I am a Near Eastern archaeologist who has had the incredible opportunity to travel to the Middle East multiple time to work on excavations in Egypt, Turkey, and Syria. There are a lot of negative feelings and misinformation going around right now about Syrian refugees and Muslims in general which really upsets me. So, I’m creating this blog to feature photos of my happy times traveling in the Middle East and the AMAZING people I’ve met – many of whom I’m lucky to call my friends. I’ll add a new photo every few days until the situation gets better. I hope that by sharing my own positive experiences and stories about individual people, this will open hearts to the wonderful Syrian refugees who need our help. And to lessen the horrible scourge of Islamophobia infiltrating the west.
